About Hostel Die Boofe

The “Boofe” is a natural cave in the nearby Saxon Switzerland, an ancient sandstone mountain area along side the river Elbe towards the Czech Republic, where climbers and hiker get a peaceful and dry place for taking shelter or having a campfire break. You can: plan your trips in our Bar, relax in the quiet green garden, have BBQ, hang around the fire place, sharing travel experiences, or cook for your self in the public kitchen of the Hostel. A perfect private place for you: backpackers, travelers, cyclists, bikers, families and groups as well! We are offering plenty twin- and double-rooms, four- and five bed-rooms optional with sink and with shower and WC. Spacious private bathrooms with hot showers 24 hours, are provided on every floor. In the backyard house are two rooms suited with handicapped accessibility, a twin-bed room and one studio with a pantry and ensuite bathroom. You are welcome to enjoy a fresh coffee or try the local beer specialties with your fellow guests in our Bar, log on to wireless internet, take a book from the official free bookcrossing zone. Book city tours or the recommended “Nightwalk” to the surrounding district, rent bicycles, ask for our game pool at the reception desk. Tickets for public transport are also available.

Explore the highlights of Dresden, like the Church of our Lady (Frauenkirche), Semper Opera and the Zwinger with many art and technical museums, Royal Palace with the Treasure Museum “Grünes Gewölbe”, visit the VW-Manufacture, take a short trip to the baroque castle “Pillnitz” or “Moritzburg”, enjoy a walk alongside the Elbe valley with its castles, daytrips to Meissen with the famous porzelan Manufactory or to the Saxon Switzerland by train or steamboat. Visit the bourgois village Radebeul with its vineyards an Villas and the museum of the famous western author Karl May. Take the old steam railway to “Moritzburg”. Try the saxon cuisine and local specialties. Or just relax in one of the “Biergarten” or at the green meadows a long the banks of the river with its beautiful view on the skyline of Dresden. We are located in the multicultural district Dresden – Neustadt with over 130 Bars, Pubs, galleries and small theatres. We offer hiking maps and other information at our reception desk.

How To Get There

- from the train station “Dresden Neustadt”: (with connections to the airport Dresden - Klotsche, Berlin and the surrounding area of Dresden like Saxon Switzerland, Meißen and Moritzburg, Pullsnitz or trans Europe railway), it’s a 10 minutes walk - get off the station on the main exit – turn left, follow the street where the railway tracks are in sight left, on the second cross turn left – walk under the railway bridge, tram station “Bischofsplatz” comes in sight after this tunnel, cross the street straight ahead, walk in to Hechtstrasse, No.10 (red house on the right side). - from the main train station Dresden – Hauptbahnhof: 15 min by tram No.7 /8 to direction Weixdorf, get of at stop “Bischofsweg”, cross the corner and walk on to the two railway bridges ahead – turn right into the 3rd street - Hechtstrasse No.10 - by car: get off highway/autobahn exit “Dresden – Hellerau” to the city center, passing railway bridges (nh-Hotel on the right side), traffic light – turn left (Fritz Reuter street), passing railway bridges again, turn left Hechtstrasse No. 10 (red house on the right side). - from the airport: watch out for the guiding info at the H.I.B.S-Hotel-Info-System (Red Box), take S-Bahn to train station “Dresden Neustadt”, cab/taxi costs about 15 €. - nearby to the famous, historical old town of Dresden and other highlights - less than 10 min with local transport system or 30 min to walk

Check In between 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. – please inform us in case of arriving later than 6 p.m. ! Check out until 11 a.m. . Cancellation is off charge until 48 hours before arrival. “Now shows” - we are conditionally expecting a full payment. The use of sleeping bags is strictly forbidden. The Hostel is a no smoking Hostel – smoking areas are signed. Storing your luggage is free of charge until 24 hours. Pick up service from the train station Dresden – Neustadt on enquiry.
