ITINERARY APR-NOV

Day 1 - Litchfield Our first stop is picturesque Florence Falls. Here there’s a short walk through monsoon rainforest into the falls, where you can cool off with a refreshing swim. Swim in the crystal clear rock pools of Buley Rock holes before a short drive to the famous Wangi Falls. Enjoy the view from the lookout at Tolmer Falls and watch the waterfall cascading from a narrow gorge into the huge plunge pool below. As we leave Litchfield National Park we pass by floodplains scattered with hundreds of Meridian Termite Mounds, we’ll make a brief stop to learn more about the inhabitants of these amazing structures. We also get to view some fantastic bird life on the Marrakai Floodplain as we head towards Kakadu and our overnight campsite. (LD) • Camp: Corroboree campground (Toilets/Showers available)

Day 2 - Kakadu

We start our day’s highlights with a Private Crocodile and Wildlife Cruise on Corroboree Billabong, a part of the Mary River system. Next you can view various displays about Kakadu at the Bowali Visitor Centre before heading north to Ubirr Rock, recognised as one of the most famous Aboriginal rock art and cultural areas in the world. We then visit Barramundi Gorge (Maguk) where you can spend some time exploring, rock climbing, relaxing or swimming in the waterfalls. (BLD) • Camp: Garnamar/ Muirella Park campground (Toilets/Showers available)

Day 3 - Kakadu

Today we 4WD toward Twin Falls where you will get to enjoy an informative boat cruise with an Aboriginal guide up Twin Falls Gorge. Our 4WDing continues through creeks and sand on our way to mighty Jim Jim Falls where a swim in the plunge pool at the base of the falls is sure to refresh the senses. (BL)

ITINERARY DEC-MAR

Day 1 | Darwin to Litchfield National Park

Litchfield National Park, a great way to start the day! We’ll hike, swim and explore and find out more about the incredible magnetic termite mounds. A one hour boat cruise along the Adelaide River is next. Watch large saltwater crocodiles leap out of the water up to half their body length. Awesome! A secluded camp at Mary River is where we stay tonight. (LD)

Day 2 | Litchfield National Park to Kakadu

Mamukala Wetlands provides a great opportunity to view the wetland bird life from an observation tower, particularly magpie geese that congregate here in their thousands. Ancient Ubirr Rock is recognised as one of the most famous Aboriginal rock art and cultural areas in the world and a climb to the top will reward you with a 360° view over floodplains and the Arnhem Land Escarpment. If Ubirr is inaccessible we’ll visit Nourlangie Rock. Learn more about the flora, fauna, culture, history and management of Kakadu National Park at the Bowali Visitor Centre then hike into Gubara Springs before we arrive at camp. (BLD)

Day 3 | Kakadu National Park to Darwin

Today we “get away from the crowds” with plenty of hiking, exploring and swimming at Motorcar Falls and Boulder Creek. You’ll return to Darwin with plenty of memories! (BL)
