Description
Day 1 Darwin/Kakadu National Park
A colourful blend of frontier charm and modern cosmopolitan attitude, Darwin is an exciting launch pad into the Never Never. After an early start from this tropical capital take a crocodile-spotting cruise. Keep eyes peeled, and cameras ready, to spy one of these magnificent creatures patrolling the waters. Afterwards venture deep into the wilderness of Kakadu National Park. Steeped in Dreamtime history, learn how this landscape helps maintain Indigenous tradition and culture. Accompanied by a local guide, be captivated by the park`s ever-changing terrain and untamed beauty. After lunch head to Ubirr Rock to view some of the world`s finest Aboriginal rock art. Fall asleep tonight to the sounds of an ancient land.
Permanent tents with shared facilities
Day 2 Kakadu National Park/Katherine
After breakfast, head out to explore more of Kakadu. Cool off with a swim in crocodile-free waters, and be sure to soak up the spectacular sandstone country while there. After lunch travel south out of the park into the historic mining area of Pine Creek. Stop along the way for a refreshing dip in Edith Falls. Settle in for the night at a campsite at the historic Springvale Homestead near the remote town of Katherine.
Permanent tents with shared facilities
Day 3 Katherine Gorge/Mt Bundy Station
Take a cruise along the waters of Katherine Gorge or explore under your own steam, by paddling a canoe. The gorge, formed by the Katherine River flowing from Arnhem Land to the Timor Sea, is breathtaking. Heading north again, camping for the night at remote Mt Bundy station on the banks of the Adelaide River.
Permanent tent with shared facilities
Day 4 Litchfield National Park/Darwin
Filled with waterholes and waterfalls, Litchfield National Park is a great place to relax and well deserving of all its hype. This park is nothing short of breathtaking. Visit Florence Falls, Wangi Falls and Buley Rockholes, walk through beautiful rainforests and cool down with a swim in one of Litchfield`s picture-perfect waterholes. As with all good things, this Top End adventure must come to an end. Hit the road and head back to Darwin where this trip will finish on arrival.
