Description

Day 1 Darwin/Kakadu National Park Leave the relaxed harbour city of Darwin behind and journey to World Heritage-listed Kakadu. Home to ancient rock art, lush wetlands and unique ecosystems, this place is pretty special. Head off to spot crocodiles on a cruise through the watery byways of the park. Enjoy views straight out of Crocodile Dundee at Ubirr Rock and fall asleep under an Outback sky dreaming of an ancient land. Permanent tents with shared facilities Day 2 Katherine There`s much to see in this breathtaking sandstone country and luckily plenty of time for further exploration of Kakadu this morning. With croc-free waters nearby, be sure to take this opportunity for a swim. Then head to the historic mining town of Pine Creek and discover its gold rush past. Stop off at the picturesque Edith Falls on the way. Spend the night at Springvale Homestead on the banks of the Katherine River. Look out for wallabies that are sometimes seen nearby. Day 3 Katherine Gorge/Darwin Rise early to maximise time spent at majestic Katherine Gorge. Formed by the Katherine River flowing from Arnhem Land out to the sea, this is a must-see on any visit to the region. Here you can either enjoy a leisurely two-hour cruise along the river`s tranquil waters or, for the more active, the option to paddle out on a canoeing adventure. The waters are clear, cool and croc-free, and the scenery is jaw- pingly beautiful. In the afternoon return to Darwin.
