Day One  – Darwin to Katherine Gorge We visit the Adelaide River WWII War Cemetery before spending the afternoon either canoeing or cruising (at own expense) the striking Katherine (Nitmiluk) Gorge. Overnight permanent camp.

Day Two – Katherine Gorge to Tennant CreekStop for a swim at the Mataranka Thermal Pools, call in at the Daly Waters Pub and then continue on to Tennant Creek for our overnight camp at Juno Horse Farm.

Day Three – Tennant Creek to Alice SpringsThis morning we visit the picturesque Mary Ann Dam in the ‘Honeymoon Ranges’ and the Devils Marbles, before arriving in to Alice Springs late afternoon. Overnight dorm included (or upgrade to motel).

Day Four: Alice Springs to Kings Canyon & UluruExperience the remote outback of the Red Centre as we drive to Kings Canyon to climb and explore the impressive formations of the ‘Amphitheatre’, ‘Lost City’, the picturesque ‘Garden of Eden’ and the breathtaking North and South Walls.  After lunch continue on to Uluru (Ayers Rock) passing Mt Connor and Curtin Springs cattle station. After dinner curl up under the millions of stars in an authentic Aussie Bedroll (swag) at our permanent campsite. 

Day Five: – Uluru and Kata Tjuta Up before dawn to experience an Uluru sunrise and either an optional climb or base walk, exploring the mysterious rock formations and Aboriginal Art sites. Visit the Cultural Centre for a greater insight into Aboriginal art and beliefs with the opportunity to purchase art & crafts. After lunch, hike the spectacular ‘Valley of the Winds’ in Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) then enjoy a glass of sparkling wine while watching the desert sun set over Uluru. Return to camp to enjoy a traditional camp oven dinner before ‘turning in’ for the night.

Day Six: Uluru to Coober PedyAn early departure this morning as we head to Coober Pedy, crossing the Northern Territory/South Australian border. On arrival enjoy a mine tour, including an opal cutting demonstration, with the chance to try opal fossicking (time permitting). Overnight in an underground bunkhouse at Coober Pedy. (NB: Upgrade to hotel accommodation available at additional expense) 

Day Seven: - Coober Pedy to Rawnsley ParkToday we journey further south along the Stuart Highway passing the ‘rocket-launching’ township of Woomera, breaking for lunch at Port Augusta before arriving at the spectacular sheep station of Rawnsley Park in the late afternoon. Overnight bunkhouse accommodation.

Day Eight: - Wilpena Pound to ParachilnaAn early start to the day for the challenging climb of Mt Ohlssen-Bagge. Be rewarded with fantastic views of Wilpena Pound, the Ranges, desert and Lake Torrens. After lunch, we drive through spectacular Parachilna Gorge as we head to Parachilna. Overnight dorm accommodation and a memorable ‘Aussie BBQ’ (including local game) at Parachilna.

Day Nine: - Parachilna to AdelaideThis morning we take a short walk to view rock art at Yourambulla Caves then visit the ruins of Kanyaka Homestead. We take a break in the historic railway township of Quorn, before heading to Adelaide via the beautiful Clare Valley.

Day Ten: - Adelaide to Grampians NPAn early start this morning, driving through the picturesque Adelaide Hills, crossing the mighty Murray River, passing through South Australian country towns to today’s destination, the magnificent Grampians National Park. We spend the afternoon hiking at Hollow Mountain & the amazing MacKenzie Falls, finishing the day with breathtaking sunset views from The Balconies and Reeds Lookout.  Overnight is at Halls Gap, in the ‘Heart of the Grampians’. (Meals at own expense)

Day Eleven: - Grampians NP via the Great Ocean Rd to Port CampbellStart the morning with a challenging hike to the ‘Pinnacle’, exploring the natural wonders and breathtaking views this national park has to offer. We visit Brambuks Aboriginal Cultural Centre before heading south to the coast & Warrnambool for a chance to view whales (seasonal). The renowned Great Ocean Road beckons for us to explore its beauty. You will see the Bay of Islands, Bay of Martyrs, The Grotto, London Bridge and Loch Ard Gorge before enjoying sunset over the Twelve Apostles.  Stay overnight in the fishing village of Port Campbell or Princetown.

Day Twelve: - Port Campbell to Melbourne This morning we enjoy an early sunrise at the Twelve Apostles before making our way down Gibson Steps to the beach for a different perspective of these amazing formations. Next up we spend time at the awesome Otway Fly, (a 25 meter high elevated tree top walk). Continuing on we pass through the magnificent cool temperate rain forests of the Otway National Park, onto the coastal towns of Apollo Bay and Lorne, exploring the pristine beaches & gorges. We make our way via the world famous Bells Beach to Torquay (home of Quicksilver and Rip Curl) after clearing the shops of bargains we head to the our final destination of Melbourne.

Day Thirteen: Melbourne to Wilsons Promontory NPWe begin our adventure early, travelling southeast through the Dandenong Ranges and pastoral landscape of Victoria to Wilsons Promontory National Park.  We spend the entire afternoon in the National Park, exploring the spectacular granite rock formations, coastal flora and native wildlife (including emus and wombats), golden beaches and watching the ocean of Bass Strait pound on to the Australian mainland’s most southerly point.  Overnight at Foster, a small, but pretty town known for its dairy farming.

Day Fourteen: Wilsons Promontory NP to Snowy River CountryAfter breakfast we travel through the farming land of the East Gippsland to Ninety Mile Beach and Buchan, where huge limestone caves lie beneath the woodlands. Arriving in the Snowy River High Country, we stretch our legs on a guided 2-3 hour sunset hike.  Enjoy a hearty dinner and in the evening, search for ‘Aussie’ wildlife on an interpretive nocturnal walk.  Overnight in picturesque ‘Highland Country’

Day Fifteen: Snowy River Country to JindabyneWake up bright and early for the spectacular scenic drive through Snowy River NP, crossing the border of New South Wales, the mighty Snowy River and into Kosciuszko NP.  We arrive in Jindabyne in time for an early lunch, and then visit the Jindabyne Cultural Centre.  In the afternoon, we travel to Charlotte Pass (seasonal) to view the peak of Mt Kosciuszko (the highest point in Australia) and also hike along an alpine track to the glacial blue lake. During winter we will ‘snow hike’ or ski (at own expense – weather permitting).  Dinner and overnight accommodation is included at the Lake Jindabyne Hotel, where you’ll get to enjoy the mountain life perhaps a sauna, swim or drink at the bar while taking in the magnificent view of the lake.

Day Sixteen: Jindabyne to Sydney via CanberraSpend the morning relaxing or try one of the following optional activities:  canoeing, water skiing (seasonal), horse riding (a must, through this beautiful Snowy River country) or mountain bike riding (all at own expense).  We travel on to Cooma and Australia’s capital, Canberra to check out Parliament House, Lake Burley Griffin and stunning views from Mt Ainsley, before continuing on to Sydney arriving late afternoon.

CONDITIONS FOR TRAVEL WITH OZ EXPERIENCE

 

1. Oz Experience Passes, issued for a specific travel sector, are valid for travel in one direction over the sector which the pass name refers to, from the first date of travel for up to a 6 month period, or until the pass holder has travelled once over all sections of the travel pass, whichever happens first.

 

2. Expired passes can be extended for a further period for a fee of $50 per 3 month period of extension.

 

3. First day of travel must commence within 12 months of the date of agency voucher issue.

 

4. Pay On Board Kitty’s

Are payable to the driver for the following sectors.  Prices are valid until 31 March 2006.

Sydney to Cairns: AUD$35

Cairns to Darwin: AUD$75

5. IMPORTANT: 

To help ensure your seat, confirm your departure at least 7 days prior to departure. If you wish to leave a coach, it is your responsibility to reconfirm your next departure by contacting our reservations  department:

6. Tickets are not transferable.

 

7. Should a customer fail to appear for a confirmed departure date and point their ticket becomes void until a AU$50 penalty fee is paid to reinstate the ticket.

 

8. Oz Experience reserves the right to alter the route or itinerary of any of its tours and arrange alternative carriers to those advertised if necessary. No refunds will be given in these circumstances or in the event of any delay, curtailment or alteration of a trip resulting from any cause including severe weather conditions or mechanical failure.

 

9. A minimum number of passengers is required to operate each tour. It may  be necessary to cancel a scheduled departure and to offer an alternative or full refund for that tour. Oz Experience can’t guarantee pick up or off times and are not liable for passenger failure to connect with other services.

 

10. We accept no responsibility for loss or damage to personal belongings or baggage.

 

11. Itineraries may vary and / or attractions substituted due to seasonal conditions, Traditional Owner and National Park requirements.

 

12. Some activities including on the Oz Experience network may require a reasonable level of fitness. If you have any doubts about your ability to participate with these activities, you are under no obligation to participate. 

 

13. Independent operators run some of the activities listed in our promotional material, or described by our drivers Oz Experience and its staff cannot be held responsible for their actions or performance in any way.

 

14. Whilst we make every effort to safeguard our clients, we cannot be held responsible for personal injury or loss due to events which are beyond our control. Passengers should note that adventure travel involves a higher than normal risk and a signed release will be required from all participants before tour departure.

 

15. Travel insurance is NOT included, we strongly recommend that passengers have their own travel insurance against illness, injury, loss / damage to personal belongings and not being able to travel on the confirmed departure date.

 

16. Oz Experience reserves the right to increase standard charges, which is identified in the promotional material, used by the customer for promoting our services. Where a ticket has not yet been issued the purchaser of this ticket may be liable for additional charges at the discretion of Oz Experience.  Additional charges may include optional activities offered as part of the Oz Experience network, costs for these inclusions will be collected prior to boarding for those who wish to participate.

 

17. Australia is by nature a warm and friendly place. You can expect high temperatures in the summer but be prepared for lower temperatures at night and during the Australian winter. Conditions can change quickly, especially in Southern Australia, and you should be prepared for rain and snow at times.

 

18. Bookings made with Oz Experience direct: 10% cancellation fee applies before commencement of travel.  No refund after travel has commenced.

19. Children 8 years and under are not permitted to travel on any tour. Children under 16 years of age are not permitted to travel unless accompanied by an adult.

 

20. Australian Government regulations prohibit smoking and the drinking of alcohol inside tourist vehicles in Australia (smoking and drinking should be limited to stops along the route).

 

21. These terms and conditions apply to the extent that they are not inconsistent with, or not in contravention of, any obligation imposed upon Oz Experience by virtue of the provisions of the Trade Practices Act 1974.
