"Xian and the famous Terracotta Warriors start our journey, before visiting the amazing Luoyang Grottos and Shaolin, birthplace of Kung-Fu. Head south to Suzhou and its UNESCO listed gardens and canals, then the water town of Tongli on the way to the amazing neon-lit city of Shanghai
Day 1 Xian
Welcome to Xian! This evening you will meet your Trip Leader and the rest of your travelling companions in the café area of the hostel. After a brief information session, we go on a brief walking tour of this ancient city that was China’s first capital and both the beginning and end of the Silk Road.
Day 2 Xian
This morning we visit the incredible Terracotta Warriors. You can spend as much time here as you wish exploring the massive and imposing site before heading back into town. Spend the evening wandering through the Muslim Section snacking at one of the many late night stalls.
Day 3 Xian
Today you are free to explore Xian at your own pace. The Big Goose Pagoda is worth a look, as is the Tomb of Emperor Jingdi, the formidable old city walls and the many museums and temples.
Day 4 Luoyang
This morning we catch one of China's new bullet trains to the city of Luoyang. We head directly to the UNESCO heritage listed Grottoes of Longman Caves, before heading to your hostel for an optional course in the fine art of Chinese dumpling making.
Day 5 Shaolin
This morning we travel to the Shaolin Temple where you will gain an insight into the beginnings of Kung-Fu. You have the option of taking a short Kung Fu course whilst your there, which we consider to be a must do (for longer courses check out the new ‘Kung-Fu Experience’)! Tonight we board an overnight train to Suzhou.
Day 6 Suzhou
Our morning arrival leaves you with a full day to relax and explore the many charming gardens, temples and canals of Suzhou at your own pace.
Day 7 Tongli
This morning we head to our special water village of Tongli with its whitewashed houses and networks of canals. We spend the spend the evening here allowing you to see and experience the water towns in a way that most don’t have the chance to.
Day 8 Shanghai
This morning we head to the powerhouse of China, Shanghai, boasting a population of 25million it will blow your mind. This afternoon your Trip Leader will take you on an walking tour of the city showing you some of the most important sites.
Day 9 Shanghai
Today you sadly say farewell to your new friends or you can continue the adventure on our ‘Shanghai to Beijing’ pass or ‘Shanghai to Hong Kong’ passes to experience more of the real China.
