MONA FOMA - An annual festival held in January over about four days that is billed as Tassie's largest music festival.

St Kilda Festival - Head to one of the hippest parts of Melbourne for this week long free street festival featuring Australian artists and talents.

Drag queen, Sydney Mardi Gras - www.visitedplanet.comSydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras - Plenty of razz and dazzle hits Sydney for this event celebrating all kinds of sexuality. It in the parade on the first Saturday in March with floats, parties and performances. 

Adelaide Fringe Festival - Running for a month from mid February to mid March the Fringe takes over Adelaide with 900 events running in parks, warehouses, lane-ways and buildings.

Waitangi Day - Held on February 6 to commemorate the signing of New Zealand's founding document. There are celebrations everywhere, the biggest in Auckland.

Canberra Comedy Festival - Split your sides at these local, Australian and international acts. Held over seven days.

Sydney Royal Easter Show - The annual Easter show in Sydney is one of the biggest in the country. With showbags, carnival rides, livestock and plenty of entertainment its family friendly and fun for everyone. Held over the Easter week.

Fremantle Street Arts Festival - This street arts festival in Perth over the Easter weekend showcases the best of busking, street theatre, cabaret, comedy, circus and more in the colourful streets of Fremantle.

WOMADelaide - The World of Music, Arts and Dance is one of the best known and loved festivals in Australia. The four day program features workshops, stage performances, street theatre and even cooking.

Pasifika - An annual Pacific Island themed event in Auckland that attracts thousands keen to sample the music, food and culture of the islands.

Melbourne International Comedy Festival - Starting late March and running most of April this month long event features the best of local and international comedy acts at venues around the city.

Arrowtown Autumn Festival - Quaint Arrowtown comes to life every Autumn with entertainment, vintage cars, food and more in picturesque settings.

Anzac Day commemorative wreath - www.visitedplanet.comAnzac Day - A national holiday commemorated in Australia and New Zealand on April 25 to acknowledge the sacrifice of the original ANZAC troops (Australia New Zealand Army Corps) during WWI. Floriade - Canberra's spring festival runs for a whole month from mid September into mid October. Celebrating all things horticultural this is a free event all about gardens and blooms.

Brisbane Festival - This annual event features music, street art, fireworks displays of the most spectacular kind, lasers, and more. A must for your calendar year if you're in Brisbane.
