About Backpackers Newcastle

Situated near the bustling cosmopolitan centre of Hamilton is a boutique backpackers hostel just perfect for a relaxing first stop after the craziness of Sydney. Hang out in our hammocks below shady palmtrees, take a dip in our beautiful sun-warmed pool, or catch one of the many free local buses to discover Newcastle's stunning beaches (bus stop only 1min walk away). We have a free pool table, free on street parking, coinoperated laundry, internet kiosk, brand new BBQ area, a free meal or two, comfy beds and camping available. We are cleaned daily and have a very friendly and knowledgable staff that will help you plan your travels (and join you at the nearest pub!). Coming in by train or bus? Wine tours $45 full day wine included, Whale watches (in season) $40, Dolphin watches $18 (all year round). Pool table, table tennis, video (with new release free hire).

How To get There

You must make a free call booking from anywhere in NSW on 1800 333436 (or 0249693436) and inform us of your arrival time to have a CONFIRMED booking. We will have our minibus ready to pick you up. If you are driving from Sydney, take the main exit stating `NEWCASTLE` (only) and follow for approx 19 km into the city. You will cross a big railway bridge and two traffic lights before Beaumont Street. Turn right on Beaumont St and left at the Exchange Hotel. You are now on Denison St. We are just after the Ambulance Station but on the left. (The city is just one more block down). If you are in the city we are behind the regional museum and not far from BI-LO. A 24 hour petrol (gas) station is on the corner.
