About Deepdale Backpackers and Camping
Welcome to this award winning eco friendly hostel accommodation and campsite on the beautiful north Norfolk coast, 'an area of outstanding natural beauty'.
Escape the smog of the cities and get to the coast and countryside around here. You can choose from a range of accommodation, private ensuite rooms to teepees, group hostel to dorm beds.
The facilities are a great place to chill or be as active as you like. All the facilities you need are right on our doorstep including a cafe, information centre, supermarket, shops, walking and hiking, cycling, watersports and kiting.
We even have a bus service running to and from the front door, so you don't need to drive during your visit. The accommodation offers private ensuite rooms (double, twin, triple, quad and family) and dorm beds. The campsite offers teepees and camping pitches for tents and small campervans. The hostel is a converted 17th century barn, incorporating eco-friendly technology and traditional building methods. A fully equipped kitchen and sitting room are available. The campsite spreads across five grass paddocks and has modern toilet and shower facilities.
We ask all our customers to consider the environment. There are recycling facilities around the site and a large amount of information about non car transport including buses, walking and cycling (bike hire is available). We’ve incorporated green technology and will soon add wind turbines. We plant a large number of trees each year around the site and farm.

Things To Do
There are watersports and outdoor activities of every sort, beautiful beaches and historical buildings, so you can be as active as you want. Of course you might just like to chill out and relax, so why not try one of our superb local pubs serving local beers and excellent seafood!
Kiting and windsurfing - Kite surfing and windsurfing are major sports on the Norfolk coast. Whether you are just being dragged along the sand by the kite (intentionally or by accident) or surfing and buggying. Kite surfing and kiting can be done most places, with Brancaster and Hunstanton beaches being very popular. Kite buggying is a little less popular with the authorities, but there are some excellent locations for it, like the West end of Brancaster beach.
The Wash and North Norfolk Coast European Marine Site - This area of the coast is internationally important for wild plants and animals which depend on their unique character. The area is famous for the myriad of bird species that visit throughout the year and home to the largest population of common seals in the UK.
Watersports - Our location on the North Norfolk coast is unrivalled for its range of watersports: sailing, wind surfing, canoeing, waterskiing, body boarding, power boating, cruising, yachting and kite surfing.
Hiking and Walking - The coastal path passes the door of Deepdale Farm heading both East and West along the coast. If you are looking for something a little less strenuous then there are our two new farm walks, fabulous walks around the common and coast line.
Cycling - We work closely with a few bike hire companies, some of whom will deliver to Deepdale. Of course you are welcome to bring your own bikes and there is a secure storage area for them.
How To get There
Deepdale Farm is in Burnham Deepdale on the beautiful north Norfolk coast. You can cycle, sail, walk, bus or drive to the front door. London is just over two hours away and access to this part of the world is pretty easy. Just remember that it`s beautiful here because it is rural, so relax and enjoy the journey.
National Coaches and trains - We would recommend arriving at Kings Lynn (19 miles away) by train, on the service run by WAGN (approximately 1hr and 40mins from London), and then cycling or catching a local bus to Burnham Deepdale.
Cycling - National Cycle Route Number One passes two miles inland of Deepdale Farm. This forms part of the North Sea Cycle Route and the national network of cycle routes. A new Norfolk Coast Cycle Route has just been launched. Wagn allow you to bring your bike on the train, so why not catch the train to King`s Lynn and then cycle onto us.
Walking - The Norfolk Coastal Path stretches from Hunstanton to Cromer and passes through Burnham Deepdale, just 200 yards from Deepdale Farm. Peddars Way is not far away and links with the coastal path.
Driving - If you are coming from London then we suggest you take the M11, then the A11, turning off to Swaffham. This is usually much quicker that the A10. If you are coming from the Midlands head to King`s Lynn and either take the A149 coast road or A148 and turn off at Hillington to Bircham.
Flying - Our nearest airport is Norwich (approx 30 miles away). flybe fly into Norwich from destinations across Europe, and KLM fly into Norwich from around the world via Schipol Airport, Amsterdam. For the major London airports, Stansted, Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton, there is a coach service to Norwich run by National Express. There is a good train service from Stansted Airport which connects with trains to King`s Lynn.

Deepdale is a quiet relaxed place and those making excessive noise after 10pm will be asked to leave without a refund.
No stag or hen parties (We reserve the right to cancel bookings without a refund if we find they are hen or stag parties).
No booking is confirmed until full payment has been received. Please note that there is an option to pay a 20% deposit for Deepdale Granary and Marsh Barn bookings, however the balance is due at least one month before arrival.

On the campsite please note that if you reduce the number of people, but not pitches, then we are unable to give you a refund.
We allow a maximum group size of 12 in Deepdale Stables. This is because the hostel is only suited for individuals and small groups. There are other people sharing the facilities (kitchen, living area and courtyard/BBQ) in this hostel unlike our group hostel where you get exclusive use. We now make clear to all groups staying that there is a no noise policy after 10pm. If you are found to be noisy or rowdy you would be asked to leave without a refund. Groups booking rooms under different names to make a booking of more than 12 beds may be asked to leave without a refund.
Deepdale Tipis - Only one teepee can be booked by a group, with a maximum of six people sleeping in the Teepee. The main reason is the proximity of the Teepees to local houses and our noise policy. Groups booking the two teepees under two seperate names may be asked to leave with no refund.
Deepdale Camping - We do not accept group bookings on the campsite, due to our noise policy and the proximity to local houses. Therefore no more than two pitches can be booked together. Groups wishing to camp may want to consider Marsh Barn.
Teepee Hire - For Teepee Hire bookings not at Deepdale Farm, cancellations must be made with the Teepee Company who will have contacted you separately regarding the booking.
