About The Flying Fox

For the independant traveller, funky laid-back small hostel with great log fires, cool atmosphere complete with artwork by other travellers, guitars, didgis, mags. Great outdoor BBQ area, Chill-Out Hut. We are also WWOOF hosts.

Five minute flat walk to station and Katoombas` cool cafe scene. Located in the World Heritage listed Blue Mountains you can enjoy bush walking in Katoomba, visit stunning Wentworth Falls and trek the Grand Canyon. The Blue Mountains is the place in Australia to try Abseiling (rapelling), Canyoning, Climbing, visit Jenolan Caves,  Horse Riding and Mountain Biking. We also offer overnight Camping trips. All this can be arranged at our office.

Katoombas` Famous Flying Fox Backpackers

Hiking, Climbing, Abseiling, Canyoning, Mountain Biking, trips to Jenolan Caves, available in the most beautiful World Heritage listed National Park.

Relax and make friends in our cosy hostel. Enjoy our BBQ area and Chill Out Hut (small fire outside most nights).

For the more adventurous we offer overnight camping trips. You can hire all gear from our office and head off alone into the beautiful Blue Gum Forest. You are welcome to store excess gear for free in our hostel. By arrangement we also cater for those who prefer not to carry anything and will meet you in the late afternoon with food and camping gear for a wonderful overnight camping experience by the Cox`s River (Six Foot Track).

How To get There

By Train

Three minute flat walk from Katoomba Station. Walk up the stairs and you are on Bathurst Road. Cross at the pedestrian crossing and walk to your right. You will cross Parke St and Cascade St, we are just past  Todarellos` Supermarket (a wonderful fruit and vegetable shop).

By Car

From Sydney - Turn left off the Great Western Highway  at the lights and Right at the roundabout as you come off the railway bridge. We are 100 metres up the road on your left at 190 Bathurst Rd(just past Todarello`s fruit and vegetable shop).
