As one of the most popular hostels in Queenstown we offer a great stay in a great location and it's just a short walk to all the attractions, bars, shops and restaurants.

All of our rooms come fully made up with linen and duvets, and most of the dorms include en-suite and/or kitchen facilities. We also have two big kitchens and tv lounges to relax in (FREE dvds available), internet and WIFI access, and two sunny BBQ decks with amazing views of the Remarkables.

The friendly team at 'the Laughter' are all experienced travellers and can book you any of the huge variety of activities available in, and around, town. So, whether you fancy jumping out of a plane at a great height, bungying off a bridge in the place where it all started, or something a little more sedate, such as cruising on majestic Milford Sound, come and see us at reception and we'll sort it all for you.

Queenstown, nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and surrounded by rugged mountains peaks, is internationally recognised as New Zealand's most popular resort destination.

Known as New Zealand's “adventure capital” and renowned for its breathtaking scenery and heart pumping attractions, Queenstown has something for everyone. For the thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies there is bungy jumping from the world's first jump site, heart pumping jet boating through spectacular canyons and exhilarating white water rafting. Tandem paraglide from Coronet Peak or step out the door at 15,000ft (strapped to a qualified jump master) and plummet towards the ground. The list is endless.

For those after a more relaxing getaway, take a spectacular cruise on Lake Wakatipu, join a wine trail and sample some of the areas world class wines, book a scenic flight over towering mountains and crystal clear lakes or tramp one of the many spectacular tracks in the region.

In winter the town draws skiers and snowboarders form all over the world to the popular ski fields of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Cardrona, Treble Cone and The Snow Farm which offer some of the best and varied terrain in all of Australasia.

How To get There

Follow state highway 6A in to the town centre. Turn left on to Shotover Street, then turn first right on to Camp Street. Go to the top of Camp Street (towards the gondola) and turn left (in front of the fire station) on to Isle Street. We are a few metres up Isle Street on the left.

Atomic Shuttles drop off on Camp Street.

Intercity/Newmans services drop off on Athol Street. Walk back up Athol Street towards the bakery and turn left on to Shotover Street then turn first right on to Camp Street.
