About Wizard of Oz Backpackers - Coogee Beach

Clean, comfortable & affordable private & shared dorm rooms at Coogee Beach, a safe, fun & friendly environment all within easy reach of Sydney`s CBD / Harbour & its many attractions. We are located in the heart of Coogee only a moments walk to beach, bus, cafes, restaurants, pubs & shops. We specialise in short & long term accommodation at our two properties Wizard of Oz Backpackers & Coogee Beachside Budget Accommodation.

The Wizard is housed in a huge, grand, converted home with large, spacious rooms & amenities. Dorms are mixed or girls only. The rooms are huge & fitted with fans. Bed-linen is supplied. Double & Twin rooms with TV, fan & some with a fridge in the room are located at our Beachside property - 2 doors down from the Wizard. Self-catering kitchens, shared laundries & outdoor clothes lines. Large front verandah & common areas with big screen TV at Wizard and great all day sun north facing backyards with built in gas BBQ & outdoor seating.

Things To Do

Sun, sand & surf, enjoy the Aussie beach lifestyle at Coogee Beach conveniently located within 15 minutes of the city centre.  Swim, surf, sunbake, snorkel, dive & coastal walks along the trails to Bondi & Maroubra beaches. Great cafes, pubs, bars & bands  on the doorstep & moments to cinema. Free hostel BBQs in summer. Climb the bridge, check out the harbour,  Opera House, city bars, & ferry it to Manly & the Zoo or find Summer Bay. Into sports, we are only moments from Randwick Race Course, Rugby, Football & Cricket stadiums - International & Local games as well as numerous golf courses in the area.

Buses to Coogee

• 373  - from the City/ Circular Quay
• 374 - from the City/Circular Quay & Railway (Eddy ave) 
• 372 - from Central Railway (Rail & Coach Terminal)
• 314 - from Bondi Junction (Rail & Bus Terminus)
• 400 - From Airport to Bondi Junction. Stay on bus till Randwick Junction (Belmore Road) where you get off & cross over the road to catch a 372, 373 or 314 to Coogee
• 353 - From Eastgardens & Bondi Junction
• 370 - From Leichhardt, Glebe, University Sydney & Uni of NSW & Randwick Hospital.
• From Public Transport get off bus at the Coogee Bay Hotel in Arden Street. Turn left into Coogee Bay Rd from bus stop and we are 200 metres up on the right hand side just past the shops.
• Airport Shuttle Service/s from the International & Domestic Airport/s. Cost from $12-$15 per person. Phone Super Shuttles driver direct on mobile 0416 066 408 or 1300 739 766 upon arrival to arrange.

Terms & Conditions

CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations must be received no later than 78 hours prior to your expected arrival date. After this time your card will be charged 1 nights accommodation.

Exception: 1ST DECEMBER - 28TH FEBRUARY (SUMMER SEASON) No cancellations, any cancellations or no shows will be charged in full for the total balance of their stay.

Christmas & New Year Bookings subject to a minimum 10 night stay from 23/12 - 2/1. You will be charged in full if you cancel, change your mind, or do not show up for whatever reason during this period. Any bookings made for these dates requires pre payment in full after 1st September. Bookings made after 1st Septermber will automatically be charged in full.
