About Backpackers Inn on the Beach

Nestled amongst sunny palm-filled courtyards, large grass lawns surround an inground pool and volleyball court. Comfortable carpeted rooms, spacious dorms, fully equipped kitchen, modern bathrooms, showers, bathtubs, TV/common room and security boxes. BackPackers Inn is an all year round place to stay with sub-tropical temperatures averaging between 20C - 30C, perfect for our winter campfires. Byron Bay is famous for its beautiful, pristine sandy beaches and excellent surf. Watch dolphins play and whale migration (winter). For starters, allow yourself at least one week in Byron as there is a multitude of things to do apart from lazing on one of the may beaches including: * surfing * sea kayaking with the dolphins * daily tours to Nimbin and the rain-forest * scuba diving in the Marine Reserve * mountain biking * hang-glidiing * whale watching

How To get There

By plane

From Sydney: To get to Byron Bay book a flight on Virgin Blue and fly into either Brisbane or Coolangatta, Gold Coast. From either airport you can catch a bus into Byron Bay where one our free shuttle service can bring you back to the hostel. From Brisbane: It is approximately a four hour trip and from the Gold Coast it is about 1.5 hours.

From Melbourne: Book a flight on Virgin Blue and fly into either Brisbane or Coolangatta, Gold Coast. From either airport you can catch a bus into Byron.

By Bus

From Sydney: Book a bus ticket with Greyhound, Pioneer or McCafferty`s Bus Lines, all offer some sort of discount if you have a VIP or Roam backpacker card. You catch your bus from Central Station in the Sydney CBD and will be dropped off right in the middle of Byron Bay. Backpackers Inn is within walking distance but we provide a free shuttle service to the hostel. Just look for someone holding up the BackPackers Inn sign.

From Brisbane: Catch a bus from the Roma St bus station which is located in the CBD of Brisbane. It will be approximately a four hour bus trip to Byron Bay. Backpackers Inn is within walking distance but we provide a free shuttle service to the hostel. Just look for the BackPackers Inn sign.

Driving

From Sydney: Basically follow the Pacific Highway north all the way up. If you drive straight through, it should take you approximately 10 hours to get to Byron Bay. But a good way to break it up would be stop in Coffs Harbour or any of the towns along the way.

From Brisbane: Just head south out of the city and onto the Pacific Highway, now called the M1. Follow all the same signs to the Gold Coast and Ballina. It is approximately a two hour drive. Keep an eye out for all signs to Byron Bay. A few minutes after you exit off the highway, you should see Backpackers Inn on your left hand side. There is also a large sign `Backpackers Inn on the Beach`.
