Where can I buy VIP Membership?
At your VIP hostel, favourite backpacker travel agent or online at vipbackpackers.com. Note; delivery when ordering online takes up to 2 weeks.
Who should I contact if I have any questions about a hostel?
You should contact the hostel directly with any inquiries. You can however check out the prices and availability online, just go to the section ‘Book a bed’ and type in the dates and search for the area where you want to go. You will be provided with a list of the VIP Hostels in that area, their prices and if they got availability.
If you’re a VIP Member, don’t forget to login so you can see your VIP discount price!
What does the worldwide kit include?
The worldwide VIP kits includes all the great value of the Australian VIP kit except your guidebook contains all 1200 VIP hostels across 89 countries. In addition to the guidebook you will also receive a VIP Member International Discount Card, An Australian SIM Card, an International Calling Card, a FREE 500 kilometre pass from Greyhound Coaches to use within Australia and a practical PVC wallet to protect your documents.
I can't register my card?
Your card needs to have a microship and should look like the card image on the registration page in order to be registered. But with the older cards you will still get your $0 booking fee and VIP discounted rate if you sign in with the membership number and your e-mail address in the top right corner before you book a bed.
I have an old VIP card - Is this still valid?
Yes. You will still get a VIP discount with our 1200 hostels worldwide if you flash our old card. Also, if you sign in with the membership number and your e-mail address in the top right corner before you book a bed you will still get your $0 booking fee and a VIP discounted rate. However, you will not be able to earn and burn VIP Reward Points in Australia & New Zealand. If you are visiting Australia / New Zealand and would like to earn VIP Reward Points then you can upgrade to our new SmartChip VIP card for just AUD$10. How old do you have to be eligible for a VIP Membership?
There are no age restricts to being a VIP Member. You can be as young or old as you want to be a VIP Member. Everyone can save money & do more with the International Discount Card. Many VIP hostels & suppliers may have minimum age requirements so check before you book.
I forgot my login details, how can I find out what they are?
The login details are the membership number printed on your card and the e-mail address you entered when you registered the card online. If you have forgotten what e-mail address you entered please call + 61 (0)2 8404 1751

How do I activate my VIP Member International Discount Card?
Go to the My Account tab and click on 'Register your card' and follow the instructions.
Rewards
Where can I earn VIP Reward Points?
At this early stage you can earn reward points in Australia and New Zealand. Look in you’re accommodation guidebook or search online for hostels and discounters that are a part of the rewards program, they’re marked with the VIP Rewards logo. Most rewards partners also have the rewards logo well shown on the premises. Look for the VIP Rewards logo in the Australia, New Zealand & South Pacific guidebook.
How many points do I have to earn before I can redeem them?
For every AU$1 eligible spend you earn 1 point in Australia or 0.8 points in New Zealand. Collect 250 points and be rewarded with AU$25 or NZ$30 Rewards Credit to spend on accommodation at a VIP Rewards Hostel. Your next night could be FREE! You can top up with cash so why not treat yourself to an upgrade and stay in style?
