Australian Festival of Chamber Music

The Australian Festival of Chamber Music (AFCM) is recognised as the most prestigious international chamber music event in the Southern Hemisphere. Held in Townsville, North Queensland for 10 days at the end of July each year, the Festival has an enviable global reputation for the quality of its distinguished musicians and the quality of its programming and presentation. The Australian Festival of Chamber Music is a happy meeting place for North Queensland locals as well as Australian and overseas visitors who enjoy the opportunity to hear and meet international musicians in a wonderfully inviting and unsurpassed tropical winter setting.

Australian Festival of Chamber Music Chefs in the North Dinner

Held annually in July, the night before the opening of the Australian Festival of Chamber Music, Chefs in the North has become one of the most sought after events in town. The seventh annual Chefs in the North Dinner, held on the lawns of Jupiters Townsville under a spectacular marquee, will feature a tantalising degustation menu prepared by some of Australia's finest chefs. Special chamber music performances programmed by Piers Lane showcasing artists performing at the Festival will also feature between courses. The Chefs in the North Dinner is designed to tempt food and wine afficionados, Festival participants and corporate clients with an unforgettable night of fine food, wine and music.

Ice Cube

Hip Hop TV and MTV Classic are proud to present the man himself Mr Ice Cube, the N.W.A from the Westside Connection. The MC, the actor, the movie director and the independent business man. The West Coast gangsta rap legend himself live in person. Cube will have fellow Westside Connection member WC by his side and there are unconfirmed rumours that he may bring DJ Crazy Tunes and one of his sons along for the ride. If you need a reminder of Ice Cube's impact on Hip Hop culture; There are songs like It Was A Good Day, Really Doe, Bop Gun, Natural Born Killers, We Be Clubbin, You Can Do It, Hello, Go To Church, Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It and list goes on. Or there are movies like Boyz N The Hood, Higher Learning, The Friday series and Three Kings.

KTA Australian Open

KTA Australian Open Event. They are pleased to bring the KTA to Australia/ Townsville. The KTA is an evolving kiteboarding organisation that aims to support the development of kite sports throughout Asia and associated regions. International continental tour, National series, One-off open competitions, Invitational. The KTA has introduced a new type of watersports event in founding the first international level kiteboard competition tour for the region. The KTA Australian Open is an open event with a focus on freestyle and racing aiming at bringing people from all over the world to North Queensland for the Australian Open.

Motoco RV Dam Fine Rally

The CMCA Motoco Rv Dam Fine Rally is North Queenslands Premier Motorhome Event held in Townsville North Queensland every July. Come along make new friends or just catch up with old ones. Five days of fun and laughter, entertainment nightly and a open day for the public to come and see the lifestyle of the Travelling Nomad.

Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon - Townsville

The Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon is the largest kids triathlon series in the world. The Townsville event will encourage kids of all fitness levels and abilities to have a go and have fun in a safe and inclusive environment. By participating in the program kids gain more confidence and self esteem while establishing better lifestyle activity and nutrition habits. Every child that finishes the course receives a medal and certificate from a sporting hero. No places or times are kept. The event held in May 2011 at Riverway attracted approximately 400 kids. It is hoped the benefits gained from the program are long-lasting and lead each participant to health, happiness, and achievement of their life goals.

Townsville Triathlon Festival

The Townsville Triathlon is in its tenth year and every year is getting bigger and better! Within its first year the festival had 80 competitors, now with the size of competition (2010 hosting to over 3000 competitors and spectators), the event has had to change locations twice! The event is now located at the beautiful location of The Strand and includes five events to cater to everyone’s fitness and competitive levels. Whether you're at high competitive level or just want to get out and have some competitive fun! The five events include a School's Junior Triathlon, Go Troppo Sprint Distance Triathlon, Olympic Distance Triathlon, Criterium Cycle Race, and the TP Human Capital Corporate Triathlon.
