2XU Great Ocean & Otway Classic Ride 2012

The 2XU Great Ocean & Otway Classic Ride 2012 is back again for another amazing day of riding along Victoria's world famous Great Ocean Road, for what is one of Australia's Premier Recreational Rides, attracting over 300 interstate participants. Starting in Torquay, the ride will take riders through the towns of Moriac and Deans Marsh, before taking riders up and over the Otway Ranges and into Lorne. From there, riders will then make their way back to Torquay along the Great Ocean Road, moving through the townships of Airey's Inlet and Anglesea.

Bells Bash Cliff Run

Friday January 18th 2013 will see the tenth Bells Bash Cliff Run in the picturesque Jan Juc twilight. Held in conjunction with the Danger 1000 Ocean Swim on Saturday 19th. The two day festival kicks off on the Friday night and continues throughout Saturday with race options for the whole family. Competitors in the 8km Bells Bash Cliff Run are expected to exceed 1000 which is huge growth in the nine years since inception. Those wanting a lighter alternative can opt into the four kilometres walk/run instead. Let's not forget the kids. The Junior Juc Bash fun run is a new addition for those as young as 5 years old to 12 and the Danger Young Guns swim for 9 to 13 year olds. So make a weekend of it and use the events to help drop the festival season layers.

Danger 1000 Ocean Swim

Danger 1000 Ocean Swim is on again this year. The two day festival kicks off on the Friday night with a fun run at the Jan Juc Surf Lifesaving Club, Surf Club Road, Jan Juc. The events continue throughout Saturday with swim race options for the whole family. On Saturday the Danger 1000 Ocean Swim at Torquay Front beach occurs. Contrary to the name, the swim is one of the most protected and calm of the Victorian Ocean swim circuit and logistically a breeze for competitors. Spectators can enjoy being able to watch both the start and finish of each age group (wave) from the comfort of the grass in the natural amphitheatre at Torquay Front Beach - Cosy Corner. In its 15th year, this swim established itself early in the ocean swim craze and grew fast to be one of the biggest in the country. Renowned for its great prizes it has attracted some of Australia's best with Ironman, Ky Hurst, holding the record in the sizzling 8 minutes and 47 seconds. The events are conducted by Jan Juc Lifesaving Club and all proceeds will contribute to helping keep the beach safe. Amazingly, over 330 volunteers will be donating their time. This event runs in conjunction with the Bells Beach Bash a cliff run along the spectacular cliffs from Jan Juc to Bells Beach and back

Kona Odyssey Mountain Bike Marathon

The Kona Odyssey Mountain Bike Marathon race starts in Apollo Bay and finishes in Forrest. three race options for competitors; 100 kilometres, 50 kilometres or 15 kilometres with races covering the famous Forrest MTB Trails. The 50 kilometre and 15 kilometre events start and finish in Forrest. Rapid Ascent is one of Australia's leading adventure event management companies that conduct a variety of events including adventure races, MTB events, fun runs and cycling events across six states. The company conducts the largest adventure race in the Southern Hemisphere and has been a finalist in the 2009 Australin Events Awards. Torquay Froth and Bubble Literary Festival

The Torquay Froth and Bubble Literary Festival is held in Torquay Victoria on the second last weekend in June, annually. The name is taken from a poem by Australia's first poet of note Adam Lindsay Gordon. "Life is mostly froth and Bubble." - Literary Workshops - Playwrights - Authors - Publishers - Poets - Books - Magazines - Writers - Theatre - Shop Window Displays A chance for the people of Torquay to come together over a week end and discover the world of literature in their area.
