2012 NCHA Tamarang Futurity

The annual NCHA Tamarang Futurity is the richest three year old horse performance event in Australia with prize money of over AUD700,000 on offer. The Futurity features the best Cutting Horse action in Australia with competitors and spectators from all around Australia and overseas travelling to Tamworth NSW for the event which takes place in the world class Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre. In addition to the packed Cutting program, some of the evening entertainment includes the popular NCHA Stockman's Challenge, Aussie Horseman Demonstration, Bull Riding, Rodeo, Professional Farriers and country music entertainment. The event also incorporates the largest country/western rural trade display outside of the metropolitan area as well as the NCHA Select Sale which auctions some of the finest bred performance horses in Australia. Admission costs vary throughout the duration of the event.

Flix in the Stix Tamworth

The 2012 Optus Flix in the Stix tour comes to Tamworth in March. Under the stars in Bicentennial Park, Flix combines the screening of its collection of award winning short films with music from the highly acclaimed Australian singer songwriter, James Reyne performing live. Also featuring special guest and much celebrated Australian bush poet, Murray Hartin. So gather together your family and friends, pack a picnic and come along for a unique night out at Tamworth's Bicentennial Park.

Tamworth is regarded as a must-see landmark of Country NSW and has been lauded as the capital of country racing; the most thrilling day of the local racing calendar is the Tamworth Cup. Famous for its annual Country Music Festival, this outback town has so much to offer visitors and you will be impressed with the excellent facilities provided by the Tamworth Jockey Club. The picturesque race club boasts five tracks and is home to 150 horses. So come along and join in the fun of the Tamworth Cup. Travelling from Sydney to Tamworth is quite a direct drive following the F3 to Newcastle and then join the New England Highway for a further 260 kilometres to find yourself in the heart of Tamworth.
