Slowly, their individual stories unfold: their relationship to each other, what this room means to them, and why they have been called to it slowly reveal themselves. No Door On Her Mouth presented by The Blue Room Theatre and Ladyfinger
Using her signature tragi-comic style, Dawn Albinger deploys fragmented narrative, highly poetic text and humour to deconstruct Western notions of “romance”, “femininity”, “desire” and “love” in an intimate solo performance.
No Door On Her Mouth is a lyrical amputation that invokes choking divas, handless maidens and flightless women, celebrating the juiciness of the mature female imaginary and getting to the heart of the matter in ways that are at once inspired and awkwardly (in)articulate.
For those seeking a more complex consideration of the all-too-familiar experience of “falling in love”, Albinger dares to explore the spaces between love and resistance, thought and agency, voice and breath.
The piece is a philosophical answer and performative response to Irigaray’s question of how to say “I love you” without it meaning “I wonder if I am loved”.
Written and performed by Dawn Albinger, dramaturgy by Margaret Cameron, video art by Sam James.

R& J as performed by William Shakespeare and the Earl of Southampton presented by The Blue Room Theatre and Prickly Pear Ensemble
They say the best men are moulded out of faults, and for the most part become much the better for being a little bit bad.
Prolific playwright John Aitken has wrought a provocative thesis play of intrigue and suggestion, exploring one of the more fascinating partnerships in the dramatic canon.
In a world on the edge of a social and cultural abyss, in a small room… the theatre, religion and politics play as uncomfortable bedfellows: the wordsmith Shakespeare, weary and circumspect; the wealthy and connected Earl of Southampton, Henry Wriothesley, bold, insolent and careless.
Aitken’s scenario, supported by the literature seamlessly woven through the text, is as contemporary as it’s speculative.
Warning: Contains coarse language and male nudity.
A Pride Western Australian Festival Event.
Written by John Aitken, directed and designed by John Senczuk, featuring Ethan Tomas and Lauchlan Bain, lighting design by Trent Suidgeest, original score by Daniel Masmalian.

The Awards exhibition offers valuable insight into, and deserved recognition for; the incredible contribution Indigenous artists continue to make to Australian culture and society."
