Blue Knob Farmers Market
The Blue Knob Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 9am to 1pm. The market is a genuine farmers market with 90 per cent of goods and produce grown or prepared within 20 kilometres of the market. Produce will change with the seasons.
Some of the delectable foods you can expect to find include: fresh organic bread in wood fired ovens, raw organic honey, citrus and avocados, eggs, local cheeses, macadamias, local preserves and jams, a range of winter vegies, some bush food condiments and traditionally brewed soft drinks.
Fresh local coffee, cakes and delicious meals are available at the Cafe and browse through the gallery at their ongoing exhibitions of art and craft works from talented local artisans.
Nimbin Country Show
The Nimbin Country Show had its beginnings in 1919 and is the first show in the North Coast show circuit.
The show is held each year in September and is a general agricultural show with horses, cattle, poultry, wood chopping, dog trials, arts, crafts, fruits, vegetables and horticulture.
The main attraction is the sustainable farming expo promoting natural farming methods. For more information please visit their website.
Nimbin Markets
The Nimbin Markets are vibrant Sunday markets to enjoy live music, delicious foods, cooling beverages or fresh coffee and treats. Browse through a diverse range of art, craft, clothing and second hand bargains. Skilled practitioners offer massage and therapies in relaxing, surrounds. Also on offer are plants and seedlings.
Parking is available off site and buses from Lismore and Byron Bay arrive and depart directly opposite the Market.
Each third and fifth Sunday in the month, the Markets come alive and contribute to the colourful mix of Nimbin's streetscape.
Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup
The annual Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup is a community sponsored event that each year grows in popularity not only with the performers but the audience who attend. Performers travel from all over Australia to be part of this gruelling poetry marathon.
Poets have eight minutes to perform one or more original poems throughout the weekend. Heats are run on the Saturday with poets vying for a position in the semi-finals, which are run on Sunday. The Grand Final is held on Sunday evening at the Nimbin School of Arts. Heats are held all day Saturday, semi-finals kick off from 12noon on Sunday and the Grand Final of eight poets starts in the School of Arts Hall from 7.30pm. Dinner and supper will be available on the veranda from 6.30pm.
