Etchells Australasian Winter Championship
It's all about the people, the place, the competition on the June long-weekend. The annual Etchells Australasian Winter Championship attracts the best one-design sailors in Australasia to Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast for four days of intense sailing competition.
The strictly controlled one-design Etchells is one of the most competitive classes to race, with Olympians, World Champions and America's Cup sailors competing regularly in the class and in the Mooloolaba event. Add in warm winter weather, the welcome of the friendly locals, loads of accommodation choices, fun entertainment for the family, great food, and for the sailors easy access to the open water competition area right in front of Mooloolaba Beach, and you have the right mix for a great long weekend for the sailors, their supporters and all the spectators.
Mooloolaba Triathalon Festival
The Mooloolaba Triathlon celebrates its 20th year and will attract upwards of 6,500 age group and team competitors along with approximately 30,000 spectators. Catering for competitors of all abilities and age groups, the Mooloolaba Triathlon has grown into one of the largest Olympic Distance triathlon events in Australia.
The Mooloolaba Triathlon is the centrepiece of a three-day multisport festival, the Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival, which celebrates the best of the Australian summer lifestyle, at one of the world's premier beachside resort locations. The Festival also includes the Asics Five Kilometre Twilight Run, Seven Mooloolaba Sport and Lifestyle Expo, Mooloolaba Ocean Swim and The Courier-Mail Superkidz Triathlon.
Sail Mooloolaba
Sail Mooloolaba is truly a celebration of sailing. From little dinghies through to big keel boats and everything in between including disabled sailing, Etchells radio controlled boats and fierce match racing, it's on in Mooloolaba on the Sunshine Coast across the week of June. Racing is on the open water right in front of Mooloolaba Beach and on the Mooloolah River in the centre of town. Kids and adults can join in one or more of the sailing experiences, visit the local attractions, laze on the white sands of Mooloolaba Beach and enjoy an affordable, warm winter family holiday staying at one of the range of accommodation venues. The racing is easily from vantage points along Mooloolaba Beach, from the balconies of the modern resorts and from The Wharf on Mooloolah River.
