14th Annual Big Scrub Rainforest Day 2012

Big Scrub Rainforest Day is Australia's largest annual Landcare information and education event. With all major regional landcare groups, practitioners and businesses attending, Big Scrub Rainforest Day provides the opportunity to gain information about rainforests and their restoration from Australia's leading experts. The day will feature rainforest restoration walks and workshops, a rainforest flora walk, weed identification workshop, a bird walk and talk. Gwen Harden will be discussing the new interactive DVD based on the iconic books 'Rainforest Trees and Shrubs' and 'Rainforest Climbing Plants'. There will be community organisation stalls and exhibits and children's activities from 10am.

22nd Annual Lismore Gemfest

Since inception in 1990 the Gemfest has become the largest gem, crystal, jewellery and fossil show in regional Australia. This is an all day event at the Lismore Showground. The event features wonderful hand-crafted jewellery, rare fossils and meteorites, stalls and displays undercover, free on-site parking, demonstrations of lapidary crafts, children's activities and food stalls.

Lismore Car Boot Market

The Lismore Car Boot Market is an all weather undercover market that is held under the Lismore Shopping Square every first and third Sunday of each month from 7:30am to 2pm. The market stalls feature a large variety of local arts and crafts, fresh produce, delicious food and coffee, books, clothing, plants, antiques, collectables and over 30 garage sales all under the one roof. It is wonderful place to shop and the perfect way to spend your Sunday.

Lismore City Centre Concerts

Enjoy the free concerts on the first Saturday of each month at the Northern Rivers Conservatorium in Lismore. The range of music presented over the year will be an eclectic mix of jazz, world music, rock, classical and other genres. Many of the acts will come from the Conservatorium; however other groups are welcome to perform. If the weather is fine the concert will be outside, so bring a chair or cushion. The Concerts are being presented by The Echo, The Lismore Foundation Program and the Northern Rivers Conservatorium Arts Centre. Lismore Farmers Market

Open air shopping is a favourite pastime in the Rainbow Region. The Lismore Farmers Market is held at the Lismore Showgrounds every Saturday from 8am to 11am. The market has a wide variety of locally grown produce as well as locally produced foodstuffs, plants and livestock. There is plenty of parking space and the markets are undercover and family friendly. Support the local farmers and food producers and enjoy the freshness and quality that the Rainbow Region is becoming known for.

Lismore Lantern Parade Festival

The Lantern Parade brings together community groups, schools and artists throughout the Northern Rivers to present a spectacular parade of light sculptures through the city. Festival features are a spectacular parade, lanterns, street theatre, carnival dancers, live music and dancing, market stalls, regional cuisine, children's art, illuminated puppets, pyrotechnics, the fabulous Fiery Finale and Great Street Party and much more!

Lismore Produce Market

The Lismore Produce Market is on every Thursday from 3.30pm to 6.30pm and every Saturday from 8am to 12 Noon. Stall holders offer fresh seasonal fruit, vegetables and value added products. There will be no resellers. All stall holders have had a farm visit to ascertain that they are the growers and/or makers of the produce and the products for sale. The Produce Market ticks all the boxes for low food miles, fresh, seasonal and local produce, supporting the local farmer and adding to the local economy. North Coast National Lismore Show

The North Coast National is one of Australia's largest, most colourful and diverse regional shows, a true celebration of the unique region - embracing the areas farming community, promoting the produce,artists and performers, championing local business. For over 120 years farmers and families have been making the trip to the annual North Coast National in Lismore. Australia's largest and most colourful regional show is held on each year in October. The North Coast National embraces visitors, exhibitors and the growing number of locals, showcasing the best produce, animals, arts and craft and entertainment the region has to offer. It celebrates the region blending old show traditions with more modern ideals in sustainable living and alternative lifestyles. Northern Rivers Performing Arts NORPA Season

NORPA is one of the leading regional performing arts companies in Australia. It has earned this reputation by being at the forefront of the regional theatre movement throughout its 15 year history and has contributed significantly to the national industry. Since its establishment in 1993, NORPA has presented over 200 productions, 26 of which were NORPA produced, including 14 original works and five productions that have toured nationally. With Artistic Director Julian Louis, NORPA aims to develop new theatre inspired by this region. The Rainbow Region Organic Market is Australia's longest running certified organic market. The Market is held every Tuesday morning from 8am to 11am. Certified organic farms grow food with the intent to improve rather than pollute the environment, one way they do this is by putting carbon back in the ground where it belongs. You can support your local and global environment by buying your local carbon farmer's delicious produce.

The Con Artists Handmade Makers Markets

The Con Artists Market is a market showcasing works from a broad range of local makers. The Con Artists handmade makers market is Lismore's monthly "do it yourself" (DIY) art and craft market with an eco bent and something for everyone. Featuring more than twenty five stalls, the markets are a treasure trove of quirky, original and inventive creations and a great source of unique locally made eco-friendly gifts. See you at the Con Artists Market on the first Saturday of the month for the markets and sounds from the Conservatorium's monthly live music ConCert. Tropical Fruits New Years Eve Dance Party and Recovery

The annual Tropical Fruits New Years Eve Dance Party includes DJs, an art exhibition, cabaret and fireworks at midnight. A Pool Party, at the Lismore Memorial Pool and a Recovery Party at The Showground are held on New Year's Day and a free barbecue is provided. Tickets for these events are only available at the door. Tropical Fruits Inc is the premier gay and lesbian social group of the Northern Rivers in New South Wales. It's a not for profit, incorporated association that holds regular events for its diverse members and guests. For more information or to become a member please visit their website. The Lismore Cup Carnival is one of the most popular carnivals in regional New South Wales. It is a unique racing experience that draws crowds of 10,000 and more to the picturesque Lismore Racecourse.
