Airnorth Kimberley Moon Experience
To mark the 10th anniversary of the Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster, the Airnorth Kimberley Moon Experience will feature John Farnham, the man who has sold more tickets and more albums and notched up more achievements than any other Australian musician. The concert is part of the overall Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster which takes place 14 to 30 May, 2010.
The Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster is a community celebration of the talented East Kimberley region, highlighting its cultural diversity, stunning landscape and friendly, country hospitality.
It began in 2001 as a simple one night affair – a dinner in the outback for local businesses – but the event has grown at an incredible pace, and now features over 50 events across an exciting two-week festival, attracting not only state-wide, but also national and international tourism and media attention.
Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster
The Argyle Diamonds Ord Valley Muster is a community celebration of the talented East Kimberley region, highlighting its cultural diversity, stunning landscape, and friendly, country hospitality.
It began in 2001 as a simple one night affair – a dinner in the outback for local businesses – but the Ord Valley Muster has grown at an incredible pace, and now features over 50 events across an exciting two-week festival. The Muster’s major draw-card, the Airnorth Kimberley Moon Experience, continues to receive international attention. Staged on the banks of the majestic Ord River, this magical concert attracts thousands of visitors each year and will feature on Saturday 29 May 2010 - renowned Australian artist, John Farnham.
The unique East Kimberley may be renowned for its isolation, and wild, untamed beauty, but at the heart of the region are its people. The spirit and generosity of everyone involved shines through, as the community unites to celebrate East Kimberley life.
Bush Tucker and Camp Oven Cooking School
Staged at Faraway Bay, the Bush Tucker and Camp Oven Cooking School provides guests with a unique opportunity to learn more about the gourmet delights hidden within the pristine Kimberley wilderness.
Guests are introduced to local bush-tucker on guided bush walks to find all sorts of ingredients like native lemon grass, bush passionfruit and rock figs.
Boabs, kangaroo and a huge array of freshly caught fish are also on the menu.
Guests bring their bounty of bush foods back to the camp where they're then provided with cooking lessons.
Much of the cooking takes place on the camp oven over an open fire.
The Bush Tucker and Camp Oven Cooking School takes place in the open-air Eagle Lodge, perched on a headland overlooking the tranquil waters of Faraway Bay.
With no walls, Eagle Lodge is ideally suited to the climate and the spectacular setting which combines cooking and dining, lounging, croc-spotting and day dreaming.
Durack's Folly
Set on the stunning land reserves surrounding Lake Argyle, Durack's Folly is a single stage 60 kilometre mountain bike race from the creator of the Gibb River Road Mountain Bike Challenge.
Lending its name to event and providing a unique race feature is an impossibly steep and technically difficult cattle pass constructed in the 1890s by the pioneering Durack Family.
A prize purse will be offered to the first male and female competitor able to ascend Durack's Folly without football or assistance.
This is a savage hike-a-bike section but the views are worth the effort.
Competitors will utilise four wheel drives, single and service tracks leading out from and returning to the Lake Argyle Resort Village.
Durack's Folly is set to showcase the extraordinary potential for adventure style racing in the East Kimberley as complimentary event to the Lake Argyle Classic.
El Questro Enduro
Set exclusively on El Questro's Million Acres Wilderness Park, the El Questro Enduro is a five day, multi stage mountain bike race from the creator of the Gibb River Road Mountain Bike Challenge. Stages include prologue, hill sprint, three hour cross country, marathon, endurance, night and point to point races. Riders will compete for stage prizes and general classification points within their classification.
The El Questro Enduro is set to become an iconic Kimberley mountain bike race, showcasing the extraordinary potential for adventure style events in the East Kimberley. El Questro Enduro - yeah, this one's a race.
Intended to be an inclusive event, El Questro Wilderness Park will welcome both riders and their supporters with equally satisfying experiences. El Questro has long been regarded as the quintessential Kimberley experience, now it is set to welcome an entirely different visitor - the adventure racer.

Staged at Faraway Bay, the Kimberley Cooking School 1 offers 12 fortunate guests the unique opportunity to learn tricks, tips and inside secrets from Chris Taylor, who oversees several of Perth's famous eateries including Fraser's, The Bluewater Grill, Indiana Cottesloe Beach and Brewery Bar and Grill.
The three day Cooking School is one of those once in a lifetime experiences that combine wonderful fresh local produce and a fantastically relaxed atmosphere - set in one of the world's truly iconic destinations.

Kimberley Cooking School 2

Kimberley Writers Festival
The Kimberley Writers Festival is a jam-packed three day event that focuses on all aspects of the written, spoken, illustrated and performed word.
Student workshops are held on the first day of the festival and include those from local schools and home schooled children.
The second and third day of the festival focuses on workshops designed to impart knowledge and increase the skills of those partaking in each session. Members of the community also have the opportunity to attend specialised workshops that allow for greater individualised teachings.
A number of artistic events are held throughout the three day festival and provide an informal environment for presentations and opportunities for the public to meet with festival guests. These events include the festival opening, Saturday night music concert, literary brunch cruise with author readings and music, and the festival closing night which features experiences and highlights of the festival by guests.
Kununurra Agricultural Show
The 38th Kununurra Agricultural Show is on again in July 2010.
Friday is Alcohol Free Family Day showcasing fabulous local entertainment, circus workshops, equestrian events including dressage and gymkhana, belly dancers and a spectacular fireworks display. There will be sideshow alley, heaps of stalls, the Creature Feature displaying a range of furry, feathery and scaly animals, cattle and heaps more.
Saturday features our regular wild and wacky favourites. The Wheelie Bin Race, Watermelon Olympics, Lawnmower Race and now also Hay stacking. The pavilion is open showcasing heaps of great displays. There will be more circus workshops for the kids, entertainment galore on the main stage, show jumping, dog show, machinery displays and custom vehicle display. Bar opens at mid day and local bands will rock the night away with some great fireworks until the gates close late.
It’s going to be a great show.
Pete Evans Celebrity Cooking School
Staged at Faraway Bay, the second annual Pete Evans Celebrity Cooking School offers 12 fortunate guests the unique opportunity to learn tricks, tips and inside secrets from renowned chef Pete Evans who stars in Channel Seven's My Kitchen Rules.
Together with his fishing-mad brother-in-law, Pete will enjoy fishing trips with guests, provide camp oven cooking lessons, teach the art of cleaning and filleting a fresh fish, and showcase a big range of seafood recipes.

RacingThePlanet: Australia 2010
RacingThePlanet is a unique category of rough country foot races that take place over seven days and 250 kilometers in remote and culturally rich locations around the world.
Competitors are challenged both physically and mentally to go beyond their athletic frontiers. Racing in the most inhospitable climates and forbidding landscapes, they must carry all their own equipment and food, and are only provided with water and a place in a tent each night to rest.
Currently the events consist of the world-renowned four Deserts series comprising the Gobi March in China, the Atacama Crossing in Chile, the Sahara Race in Egypt and The Last Desert in Antarctica, plus a fifth event - RacingThePlanet – that takes place in a new location each year.
RacingThePlanet: Australia is the third edition of the race, which has previously been run in the remote rice paddy fields of Vietnam, and the canyons and deserts of Namibia.
