Indian Ocean Rowing Start

Teams competing in a 5000 kilometre rowing race across the Indian Ocean will set off from Geraldton. This journey has been described as one of the world's toughest ocean races. Competitors will take between 50 and 100 days to reach Mauritius. Race boats have been designed to row across the ocean and feature all the latest technology in terms of safety equipment, tracking and distress beacons. Mid West Art Prize Exhibition

The Mid West Art Prize Exhibition is open to artists throughout Western Australia working in any medium. A strict selection process is adhered to ensure an exhibition of the highest calibre. Entries are limited to a maximum of two works per artist ensuring a diverse exhibition of broad appeal. Judging will be completed by three independent people from outside of the region who are respected within the arts community. There are many prizes to be won including the major prize of AUD20,000. Valley View Vintage and Military Weekend

Step back in time to enjoy a weekend of unique memorabilia, military history and swing time music at the Valley View Vintage and Military Weekend. The event includes an outdoor concert featuring Second World War themed entertainment and a daytime exhibition of vintage and military equipment with vehicles and aircraft on display and in action. West Australian Opera’s live regional simulcast of City of Perth’s Opera in the Park, supported by Lotterywest - Geraldton

With the generous support of Lotterywest, for the third year West Australian Opera is sending a live screen simulcast of City of Perth's Opera in the Park to regional centres. ‘The Pearlfishers’ by Georges Bizet will be presented in Supreme Court Gardens, Perth at 8pm on Saturday 18 February and the event will be simulcast in real time onto a live screen in Geraldton (Queens Park Theatre Amphitheatre). The opera will star Henry Choo and WA’s own stunning Katja Webb. Featuring the West Australian Symphony Orchestra conducted by Brian Castles-Onion and director Stuart Maunder. All events are free and patrons are encouraged to bring friends and family to picnic under the stars. Please refer to the website for more information.
