Carols in Cooma
Christmas is a wonderful time to spend in the company of family and friends. A great way to commence Christmas celebrations is at the community Carols in Cooma.
Cooma is no exception with the town's annual Christmas Carols held in the multi-function centre at the Cooma Showground and it's an opportunity for everyone to enjoy and participate in getting the Christmas season off to a great start.
Cooma Motorfest
The Cooma Motorfest will have a special display of construction machinery from the historic Snowy Mountains Scheme, vehicle displays including sedans, coupes, military vehicles, tractors, trucks, muscle cars and more. There will also be trade displays and children's amusements, entertainment and food stalls.
Come along and enjoy the fun and fantastic vehicles and help support the Monaro Committee for Cancer Research. Entry is a gold coin donation.
Cooma Races and Sundowner Cup
Head to the Ti Tree Racecourse for the biggest race day in Cooma. Held annually with the main race being 'Sundowner Cup' - named in honour of the movie 'The Sundowner's' which was filmed in and around Cooma and Adaminaby in 1959.
One thousand locals were extras at the Ti-Tree Racecourse when the race scene was filmed for the movie. Come and experience a great day out at the races.
2012 will be the 20th year of the Sundowner Cup.
Cooma Rodeo
Cooma Rural Australiana Championships Rodeo is an ABCRA Affiliated Rodeo. The event takes place in the rodeo arena at the Cooma Showground from 2.00pm and will provide great spectator viewing.
Exciting events will include: Open Bronc Ride, Open Bull Ride, Open Bare Back, Steer Wrestling, Calf Roping and Ladies Barrel Race.
Cooma Rotary Markets
The Cooma Rotary Markets are held on the third Sunday of every month.
They consist of up to 50 stalls supplying a variety of merchandise including craft, vegetables, nursery, garden implements, bric-a-brac, woodwork, second-hand books, prints, pottery, clothing, lavender products and much more.
Bring the family along as there’s even a jumping castle for the children to enjoy.
Cooma Show
Welcome to the Cooma Westpac Show. This year, as usual, there will be great events to keep the family entertained.
In the main arena, showjumping, horse ring events, yard dog trials, tree felling, woodchop, tug of war, etcetera will be held and there will also be a variety of performers on hand to keep you entertained; and of course the Animal and Produce Pavilions will be open with great displays.
John Briscoe Art Award Exhibition
John Briscoe Art Award Exhibition - in honour of local artist, the late John Briscoe, the awards are held annually at the historic Raglan Gallery.
There are a variety of categories recognising the artistic talent in the Cooma Monaro and Snowy River Region. These include water colours, oils and more. Awards are given in the category sections, overall best entry and viewer's choice.
Monaro Stitchers Exhibition
This is the annual exhibition of the Monaro Stitchers members work held in the Cooma Public School Hall.
The work and items featured include patchwork, quilting, embroidery, felting and weaving. Some items will be available for sale.
Local crafters will also have stalls and displays including scrapbooking, lace making, embroidery, batik fabrics and more.
Snowy Mountains Trout Festival
This year marks the 38th annual Yamaha / Freshwater Fishing Snowy Mountains Trout Festival.
Remember all you have to do is enter this years event and attend the prize presentation to be in the draw for the Fantastic new Quintrex 385 Explorer boat, with 20hp Yamaha motor and trailer prize valued at over AUD7500.00.
This years competition is made possible with the continued support from Yamaha Motor Aust. who have donated the fabulous 20 hp motor in conjunction with Ken's Marine Canberra, who have supplied the new Quintrex 385 Explorer boat and trailer. We thank Yamaha , Quintrex and Ken's Marine for their generosity and hope that you will be able to support them in future.
This years prize presentation will be held at the Berridale Community Hall. There will be hot food,soft drinks and beer available for sale with catering being supplied by the Adaminaby CWA .
