Cairns Airport Adventure Festival
The Cairns Airport Adventure Festival kicks off with a fun filled weekend of mountain biking, ocean paddling and triathlon in stunning Port Douglas and concludes the following weekend with the world-class Cairns Airport Challenge Cairns iron-distance triathlon. The event is one of the latest to join the international Challenge series which includes events in Europe, United Kingdom and New Zealand. Staged in Cairns, Palm Cove and Port Douglas, this world famous destination and its breathtaking scenery were specifically selected to host this event. Once the racing is done, spoil yourself with all that Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef have to offer.

Cairns Airport Challenge Cairns
Set in one of the world's most iconic tropical locations, Cairns Airport Challenge Cairns will feature a course memorable for the 3.8 kilometre swim in the warm Tropical North Queensland waters, 180 kilometre bike leg that travels up arguably the most scenic coastal roads in Australia towards Port Douglas and a 42.2 kilometre run that includes the Cairns boardwalk before finishing in the heart of the city of Cairns. Challenge Cairns is the pinnacle event of the Cairns Airport Adventure Festival which includes the following:
Cairns Airport Challenge Cairns, Cairns Half, Challenge Cairns Junior (short, achievable distances, kids can participate individually or as part of a team), RRR Mountain Bike Challenge, Hekili Great Barrier Reef Ocean Challenge, Coral Coast Tri (Olympic and Sprint Distances), Quicksilver Reef Swim Green Island (3 kilometre and 1.5 kilometre), The Cairns Post Run for Cairns (5 kilometre Fun Run), Challenge Cairns Sport and Lifestyle Expo.
Cairns Festival
In 2011, Cairns Festival celebrated 50 years and made its mark as the region's most ambitious arts and event program ever attempted. This year the season looks set to be even bigger and better with its multi-dimensional program of over 100 free and ticketed events for all ages spanning visual arts, music, dance, theatre, film, food, comedy, community celebrations and more.
Highlights include, Cairns Indigenous Art Fair, Grand Parade and Fireworks, Cairns Amateurs, Tropical Pride Festival, Gordonvale Pyramid Race, Muddy's Art Village, Carnival on Collins and a whole range of contemporary arts and theatre events. Cairns Festival is managed and presented by Cairns Regional Council with generous support from James Cook University, Overflow FNQ and BDO as well as a whole host of sponsors.

Callaghan, who is still currently employed with the Northern Pride and has been since 2008, said he was looking forward to the challenge of working with a different brand of athlete.
‘Obviously I am pretty excited about being approached by a National league side to run their Strength and Conditioning program. After the team had so much success last season, it’s an honour that I have been handpicked for the position.’

Cardiac Challenge
The Cardiac Challenge is a three day camping and recreational cycle ride in the September school holidays.
The route includes some of the most stunning scenery in the Wet Tropics, Dry Tropics, and World Heritage National Parks of Far North Queensland starting in Cairns and progressing inland through the Kuranda range, Speewah, Mareeba, Mt Molloy, Mt Carbine, the Desailey range, Lakeland, and finishing in Cooktown.
Each year the Cardiac Challenge mission is to fundraise for the FNQ Hospital Foundation with the purchase of specialised equipment for improved cardiac care services for Far North Queensland.
Oceania Judo Union Championships - Cairns
Oceania Judo Union Championships - Cairns, is a showcase event for the best Judo players in the Pacific region. Visitors can enjoy all the wonders of Cairns and witness full contact Judo competitions on the mat. Remember the only the best Judo players from each country will be participating, with age groups, from 15-16, 16-20, and 20 plus years, male and female divisions.
Oceania Regional Athletics Championships
The Oceania Regional Championships will be attended by elite athletes from the 22 different nations in the Oceania region. The Championships holds events in both open age and under 18's categories for men and women. These Championships will draw many elite athletes as it will be an important part of many athletes qualifying and preparation for the Olympic Games. Cairns Athletics works with the community to help people develop their skills in the sport of athletics. Their aim is to "promote and maintain a healthy lifestyle with active participation to all males, females, adults, youth, school children, "at risk" youth and the physically disabled.
Reggaetown World Music Festival
Celebrating ten years in 2012 - Reggaetown World Music festival is Australia's premier reggae festival, and a well loved icon in the local arts ecologyset in lush tropical surrounding. They will be presenting multicultural funky riddims and great vibes for the whole family. They were the winner of best festival awards for the past two years.
