Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival

Located in the picturesque hinterland of Byron Bay, is Australia's premier annual Blues and Roots music festival is reputed to be the largest festival of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. 2012 will see the festival turn 22 years young, this Australian institution is still growing each and every year. 2011 saw the unprecedented expansion of the festival stretching over 6 days, to feature 200 performances from over 100 artists for a 90,000 strong crowd. A mass of the very best international Blues and Roots artists have featured on Bluesfest's stages in recent years including Bob Dylan, BB King, Buddy Guy, REM, James Brown, Elvis Costello, Jethro Tull, John Fogerty, George Clinton Parliament Funkadelic, Jack Johnson, John Mayer and Sir Bob Geldof amongst an array of great Australian talent. Byron Bay International Film Festival

Over ten days, The Byron Bay International Film Festival (BBFF) celebrates the spirit of Byron Bay through the universal medium of film. The programme includes films which resonate with local community values - maintaining a strong emphasis on social and environmental issues, diversity, multiculturalism, creativity, indigenous culture, spirit, healing, conscious thinking or positive living, music, marine preservation, colourful characters, humour and, of course Byron's favourite past-time, surfing. Located just a short stroll from the beach, this festival caters for every age and budget - providing participants with a friendly and inclusive experience. BBFF features an array of entertainment and activities; 200 films from all over the world, Gala Red Carpet Opening and Closing Nights, a range of workshops, networking opportunities, discussion panels, family screenings, question and answer sessions with film screenings and an interactive video feedback booth.
