WA Opera’s Lucia Di Lammermoor is a beautifully and traditionally crafted production, that creates the perfect period atmosphere for this tragic love story. Based on Sir Walter Scott’s novel Bride of Lammermoor, this bel canto work is a magnificent example of the seamless fusion of poetry and music, forged into melodic expression which speaks so directly to the heart and memory. The famous “mad scene” has been the highlight of this opera and claimed the attention of prima donnas for over 150 years. The story of two feuding families is romantic and tragic. Lucia is in love with Edgardo, her brother Enrico’s enemy. She is tricked into believing Edgardo is unfaithful and she loses her mind and murders the husband she is forced to marry.
