Description
At Large Gallery are proud to present "Patchworked", the first Melbourne solo exhibition by Melbourne based artist Nicole Tattersall.
Based in Melbourne, Australia Nicole Tattersall is a self taught artist whose works vary in mediums such as stencil art, watercolour, ink and installation. Her works have been displayed such in exhibitions as Split Personalities at No Vacancy Gallery a duo exhibition with fellow artist Megan Dell, the 2009 Melbourne Stencil Festival at the Underground, in the Curvy 6 book and book launch, She - Loves Life at Smart Artz and Artsticks 2 at the Surfing World Museum in Torquay.
For Nicole's first Melbourne solo exhibition "Patchworked" is heavily influenced by the art and craft techniques of times gone by, Australia and a recent trip to Germany. Nicole incorporates these factors with her passion for animal rights and the encouragement of using ones imagination. She has chosen to leave the stencils in their place this time round and work more so in an illustrative style both in 2D and 3D formats, allowing her get a little darker with her works than normal.
In the exhibition there are three illustrations which have been created, reflecting upon WSPA's (World Society for the Protection of Animals) campaign against the live export of sheep. A program that Nicole has been supporting and spreading the word about. These illustrations have been designed to be a conversation starter about the topic. Much like most of works planned for "Patchworked".
