Adelaide, South Australia's capital is surrounded by the Mount Lofty
Ranges and Adelaide Hills, straddles the Torrens River and is circled by
parkland. The city, designed by Colonel William Light in 1836,
encompasses a square mile grid of wide streets featuring gracious colonial
architecture.
Adelaide's million or so people love to take advantage of
the areas Mediterranean style climate and every two years the city stages
the internationally acclaimed Adelaide Festival of Arts and Festival Fringe
- festivals which lead to the city being named the Festival
State.
Adelaide's main street is King William St leading to Victoria Square
at the city centre. You will find the museum and university in
North Terrace, the nightlife in Hindley Street, the main shopping
area in Rundle Mall and café strip further east on Rundle
Street.
The National Aboriginal
Cultural Institute - Tandanya, is a museum and venue for fostering and
developing Aboriginal art, culture, visual and performing arts. Tandanya is
a great place to learn about the indigenous history of the
